Under the pressure of environment pollution and the scarcity of oil source, to be dedicated to the strategy of sustainable development, Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV) becomes an important consideration in the twenty-first century in order to get sustainable development of Automobile industry. All specialist in whole world have agreed on the point: the application of Hybrid Electric Vehicle will not be a transition phase, but be a new revolution of Automobile industry. In order to develop ISO Hybrid Electric Vehicle, theoretical and experiment researches of Changan HEV have been carried out financed by National "863" project (2001AA501300) which includes follow content:1. The torque and fuel consumption model of engine JL474Q1 has been built up based on the engine test. Electric throttle control unit and its circuit board are designed and developed. And the control performance of electric throttle system is verified by experiment.2. The type of Continuously variable transmission (CVT) is decided by analyzing the structure parameter of Ling Yang car. Model for getting the ratio-changing rate is put forward. Dynamic Performance test of CVT has been done. The result is accordant with that of theoretical researches, Base on experiment of torque converter, a mathematics model of torque converter is established.3. Based on the experiment of NiMH battery, investigations on characteristics of discharging and charging of NiMH battery, and analysis of influencing factor of NiMH battery, an approach of Ah-OCU has been built to estimate an accurate surplus energy and State of Charge of NiMH batteries.4. The efficiency and performance map of Integrated Starter/Generator (ISG) is drawn by the experiment. The simulation model of ISG is built up.5. Vehicle powertrain model including engine, ISG, CVT and battery is build up by using ADVISOR. The simulation result of all kinds of car work condition indicates that Changan ISG HEV has both less exhaust emission and fuel consumption.
