Rapid Prototyping and Manufacturing technology has attracted much attention since appeared. It's a slice/deposit technology. It slice 3D solid along a direction, abtained 2D outline data, after made all sliced plane deposit planes to deoxidize 3D sloid. This technology integrated Mechanical Engineering, CAD, CNC, Laser technology, Computer technology and Material Science. It can fabricate 3D solid from CAD model directly and automatically. This technology saves tremendous developing time and has a deep impact on the manufacturing industryThis paper first introduced RP/M and its development background. The research contents in this paper are based on a NSFC project (grant NO 59875088). In this paper the objective and the value of the project are put forward, and the optimized slice process is studied.This paper validated the former curvature radius formula, and found it was sensitive to their control points, with the example calculation the error of formula was proved too large to applify in optimized slicing system. After experiments, the Chord-Angle formula was put forward, it solved the problem of curvature radius calculating, established the basis of optimized slicing. examples indicated the error less than 10%. The modeling precision and modeling efficiency are both improved by the optimized laminating mothed.In this paper, laminating process was abstracted with Object Oriented Programming method, and the object of process was optimized, and the total structure of optimize laminating system was designed. The optimized laminating system is based on the STL data model provided by PRO/E, and was developed with VC6.0 ++and ACCESS database. The system is clear and easy to extend and maintain.In the last part the correction of chord-angle formula was test by example, and the feasibility of optimize laminating mothed was proved.
