Formerly, we often studied concrete through cement mortar, but performance of concrete improve continually with the modern building function enhance, those research that emphasized on cement mortar can not throw light on peculiarity of high performance concrete, so aggregates began to be pay attention to.Aggregates could be regard as scattered-element in concrete, and it's contribution to compressive strength of ordinary concrete was less than that of mortar, but effect of aggregates in high strength concrete are any more. The effect of aggregate on concrete still be a pending difficulty, therefore, numerous researcher study it constantly, and have made some achievements. There are rarely systematical search results about effect of aggregates on concrete in the world. This paper will study the effect of aggregate strength, volume percent, aggregate max-diameter, shape, coherent strength of aggregate and mortar on concrete through experiment. Study distinction of ordinary coarse aggregates, light aggregates and metal aggregates in particularly which affect strength of concrete. This study was intention to explore the effect of the tow elements whose mobile distinction on concrete strength, and study the enhancement of strength of concrete by aggregates.The experiment indicated that, effect of strength of aggregates on concrete was quite a little more. Only after strength and hardness of aggregates matching to those of successive-element, can it increase concrete strength effectively. Effect of strength of aggregates on strength of concrete should be accompanied with that of elastic modulus of aggregates. Enhancement of strength by aggregates was different with vary concrete rate. Namely, ordinary aggregates have no effect of strength enhancement on high strength concrete, and hardly have obvious effect on middle strength concrete, but have obvious effect on low strength concrete. There is an optimal aggregates dosage and max-diameter in concrete and which changed with concrete rate. The shape and feature of aggregates can affect the strength of concrete constantly, which effect varied with the rate of concrete. The effect of grade on concrete varied greatly with concrete rate. The study result can be take as a kind of replenish of concrete as a special multi-material, and also can offer accurate and scientific reference in concrete mix proportion.
