This thesis proposes that achieving artistic conception should be the goal ofurban-night-scene illumination, and it points out that the core of artistic conception is"Experience".Starting from previous esthetics achievements, the thesis compares severalesthetics thoughts that are influential to the city night of landscape. The authorproposes that advanced technologies and pure aesthetic feeling are not the criteria forvaluing whether urban-night-landscape is good or not. A designer should treataudience's values and usage as first considerations, and should combine the artisticconceptions of audiences and those of designer's together in order to create and valuethe design. Thesis concludes that designing and valuing urban-night-illuminationshould pay attention to the reception esthetics by audience's experiences. This valuingand using process is a cognizing process of a place, and is also a process ofconstructing a place spirit. The function of urban-night-illumination is to provide anapproval or re-created"carrier"(blank, place, text) for audiences.The illumination and the environment psychology are the necessary means forcreating place spirit. after satisfies the basic security and comfortable psychologicaldemand, illuminates should satisfy the higher level esthetic pursue of audiences.Therefore, artistic concept would realize the esthetics functions of night illuminationby means of"epithet transfer","blank"and so on.In the process of audience's experience, the designer should not neglect biologicalproblems. Urban-night-illumination requires not only illumination means but also theviewpoint of"unity of nature and human". It means to respect all elements of nature(life or lifeless) and their living development. Designer should solving thecontradiction between human and environment, and presenting night- illuminationwith suitable balancing means. His should present the existence of lives and feelingfor serving lively needs.In the final part of the thesis, we discuss the feasibility of using the theory ofartistic conception on the subject of urban-night-illumination. We hope that this thesiswill provide certain references for future study of urban-night-illumination.
