The Studying Of Building A Database Of Snow Drift On Highway

Snow hazard of snow drift on highway is the most prevalent; most frequent and most serious snow hazard form of highway in seasonal snow areas of my country. Therefore, removing snow and insuring highway unblocked have become the most important duty of highway maintenance and management department in winter.Snow drift tends to form snow hazard on highway. Because the severity degree of snow disaster is related with comprehensive factors, such as road conditions, climate, landform, man-made surface features and vegetation etc, it is hard to prevent and cure. In order to control the hazard better and ensure road unblocked, this paper presents the building of Database System for Snow Drift on Highway which is compiled with the help of Visual FoxPro 6.0 Database Management System. This system will establish a reliable systemic information database of highway snow hazard condition and related influence factor in snow drift areas. Accordingly, it will provide necessary and accurate data for road construction, choosing of snow drift prevention and control facilities, road maintenance and management, and establishment of correlative decisions in the areas of snow hazard.The system possesses the functions of data maintenance, information query, statistical analysis and report forms output etc. In addition, the system can rapidly and exactly offer needed information of snow drift on highway for road governors, maintenance technicians and concerned devisers.Through building the database system of snow drift on highway, information processing speed quickened and information management automatization was realized. Making use of this system may not only output reports that satisfied users' requirements, but also create all kinds of statistic graphs through system calculation. Consequently, it will provide visual data information for decision-making analysis.
