Because of lacking the right cognition to the city design, the result form of the local city design usually stays around the level of plans. It brings on that the intent of city design cant' carry through adequately. As an embranchment of the city design, the street landscape design also faces the same problem. Owing to the present condition of the domestic city design, it's necessary to establish the street landscape guideline.The paper expatiates on the important role of the city street landscape design in modern city design from the view of urban planning. On the base of studying the concept and the essence of street landscape design, concluding the relational theory and the experience about the guideline of street landscape, we expatiate on the control factor and its principle, guiding mode of the street landscape and putting forward the concept "overall design" into landscape modulus. At the same time, aiming at the problem in aspect of constituting, enforcing and managing the domestic guideline, the constructive opinion in a specific way was put forward. Finally hoping that the paper can provide some consult for the city street landscape of the aftertime in some aspects of maneuverability.
