According to test results of two different angle specimens of local transfer RC joint from inclined column to Beeline-shaped short shear wall under vertical static loads and results of corresponding finite element analysis(ANSYS), fundamental behaviors of the joint are achieved for the change of the angle, which include paths of vertical load transfer before and after cracking, stress distributions, occurrence and development of cracks and final failure mode of the joint. In the test, the stress distributions of wall which is upon the transfer beam and square column and the vertical stress distributions of transfer beam, inclined column and square column are specially studied for the angle of inclined column is changed. The result indicate that there is much difference in the stress distributions of the transfer beam and short shear wall for different angles of inclined column, which shows that the larger angle, the more great tensile force and the earlier crack in the transfer beam and the lower capacity. Otherwise, the angle is smaller, the evener stress distributions in short shear wall, the later crack, the worse degenerate in the transfer beam and the higher capacity. Therefore, the transfer beam bear not only the vertical load from the upper short shear but also the level tensile force from the inclined column, namely a complex stress state composed of tension, flexural moment and shear force in the section of the transfer beam. Just for the transfer beam is in the complex stress state, the stress distribution to the more extent is induced in the short shear wall, for which the local destroy occur and its capacity decreased a great deal, and the larger angle, the worse stress distribution. Furthermore, the mechanical behaviors of the joint obviously followed the characteristics of a truss model.According to the results of the experiment and finite element analysis, the paper discussed the design method of the inclined column of two different angles of R.C joint. In the joint the paper introduced the truss model to calculate the internal forces of transfer beam, inclined column and square column for the inclined column of different angles, and the method of equivalent stress is adopted to confirm the outside force of the truss model, namely the load from the short shear wall, and the factor of the angle of inclined column is considered. So the in internal forces of transfer beam, inclined column and square column are calculated. The calculation method of kin joints are also suggested.
