With the development of the standard of living of our people and the relative lack of the energy supply, mankind come to ask for auto easy to control, comfortable to take, and have good economical property, so the gear box should cooperate with the engine well, lead the engine to always work in the most optimized area; but the traditional gear box only have some fix ratio, Cannot satisfy the timing cooperate between the rotate speed of engine and speed of the auto, which require gear-box have enough step, when the number of the step is infinity named continuous variable transmission (CVT).The continuous variable transmission (CVT) can be classified friction, fluid transmission, and electromagnetic transmission and so on, which implementation the assemble is the metal V-belt CVT.The key component V-belt change from rubber V-belt to VDT metal V-belt after the V-belt CVT implementation the assemble on the autos from 1960 last century, along the twenty years, though the performance come te be strengthened, cannot show the most of the merit of the performance of continuous variable transmission (CVT) in principle; with the continuous hard work of scientist all over the world, great break have taken place in Volkswagen China who develop a new V-belt continuous variable transmission (CVT) Multitronic CVT, which assemble the new metal path-chain V-belt; the auto which assemble such kind of transmission is better than the man-transmission no matter in the drive performance than the economic performance, Whether VDT metal V-belt or the path-chain V-belt which assembled on the autos have many problems: too many components, hard to manufacture, high cost, all of above lead the CVT cost more than man-transmission. So it is necessary to develop a new V-belt which have low cost, easy to manufacture and good performance. so we application the item 'Study on New Composite Material V-Belt For Continuously Variable Transmission Equipped on autos' from chongqing technological committee (NO6634), in order to give one or more new composite V-belt made from cheaper material, with easy technology in order to improve the develop of the metal V-belt CVT.For the steel wire have good flexility which is standard component cheaper than metal ring, so we use the steel cable take the place of the metal ring named patch metal V-belt; By analyzing the working forces on blocks, metal wire and axial forces on pulleys of the metal pushing V-belt during torque transmitting, formulas for calculating the working forces and the axial forces on pulleys are deduced considering the structure feature of the V-belt, and from the result above find the facture confine the power capacity, and then analyzed the component with EFA, preparing for the optimized design and experiment. After long experiment, we find many shortcoming of this king of V-belt, such as:(1) One V-belt is compose 200~300 metal blocks, each metal block have five work face, tot more than 1500, hard to retain precision, degree of roughness .(2) Big weight, use too much steel. In order to solve these problems we should find a new way. We give a new structure named pillar-wire V-belt. By analyzing the working forces on pillar, metal wire and axial forces on pulleys of the pulling force of V-belt during torque transmitting, formulas for calculating the working forces and the axial forces on pulleys are deduced considering the structure feature of the V-belt, and from the result above find the facture confine the power capacity, and then analyzed the component with EFA, preparing for the optimized design and experiment. We find pillar-wire V-belt is a kind of feasible method, have high meaning on homemade CVT.
