The demand for high quality of the combination of a camera's beautification, treamline, lihtening and macromation etc., has already become an important part for the product to capture market The front cover is an essential piece of the camera shell. In order to ensure a tight mate of the front cover and the camera body, it demands that the piece be flat and smooth, no defect of warp, wrinkle and crack etc., and that the high- low deflection of its periphery not too big. In fact, the surface of the piece is more complex and there are many holes of high precision in dimension and position on it These features of the piece make the forming process complicated and the processing plan various.According to traditional design method, it seems incapable to deal with this kind of complex problem. With the development of metal plasticity forming technology, the technology of computer simulation has become to rebuilding traditional plasticity forming process, powerful tool of enhancing capability of mould design and key technology. Numerical simulation can kown metal flowing process in the forming process in advance, forecasting the critical condition of failure producing and optimize process project andprocess parameter, decrease even eliminate failure and satisfy the purpose of assuring product quality and shortening the product developing period.In this paper, using Finite Element numerical simulation software DYNAFQRM, according to the basic theory and method of elastic plastic Finite Element, adopting the approach of connecting numerical simulation with experience design, the forming process of the front cover is researched. In addition, on the basis of analyzing the punch manufacturability of the piece, the possible processes in every working procedure are compared and analyzed, and the feasible processes are tentatively determined; as for uncertain factors, they are further decided through numerical simulation, finally, the best process is worked out and used to direct practical production. At the same time,the transformations of the field variable during the process of metal forming is investigated by numerical simulation, the tendency of metal flow is forecasted, and the rules how different mould clerance and die fillet affect the camera forming, then the most reasonable process parameters are decided. Because the blank shape affect the quality of piece forming greatly, here the influence of blank fillet on piece forming is also analyzed, the suitable blank shape and dimension are finally gained. Moulds of each process is designed in light of the process optimized,and introducing the mould structure of the forming mould and side punch mouldfor trimming, and the design of key pieces. At last, the conclusion from practical production proves the coherence between simulation analysis and experiment resultThe result of the research here can provide reference for pieces of the same kind on forming process. It has popularized value.
