The distribution of stress and strain of the passenger ropeway supporting stand (for short, the stand) was analyzed and calculated in this paper, and nonlinear finite element method was adopted (involving geometric nonlinear behavior and material nonlinear behavior). The Stress charts and the strain charts of the stand under normal loads and abnormal loads were given respectively, and the position of the maximal stress and the maximal strain of the stand under the different situation was learned via these charts.An effective Finite element method, the load increments method was discussed, which was used for analyzing limit loads of passenger ropeway stand, and how to use this method was discussed principally. A critical point index L was put forward, this index can be served as a threshold to evaluate the safety of the stand.Fatigue estimation method for the stand with welding flaw, such as surface flaw, air hole and weld residue, was proposed. A method was put forward for computing load-scope (S3N)X and (S3N). A fatigue estimation method for the stand with surface flaw was given, and a safety rule for the stand with air hole and weld residue was also given. At last, how to use this method or rule was explained through two examples.A method of small sample experiment for computing A and m of da/dN = A( K)m or dc/dN = A( K)m was discussed. The theory foundationof the method was given. It was proved that this method was very effective compared with great sample experiment.By using the method, which was put forward in this paper, the thorny problem on safety evaluation for the stand was solved.
