Resistance reduction is of great importance to the optimization of performance of vessels .The study in this paper is to investigate the approach of wave reduction with twin bulbous bows.Adopting the wave-making theory, the bulbous bow is considered as an independent body traveling at the same speed of main monohull. This is benefical to the study of the effect of form, location and volume of the bulbous bow on wave reduction.First, the Noblesse Slender Ship Theory is introduced and modified to make it suitable for numerical calculation. And based on it, we calculate the monohull wave-making resistance coefficient.Secondly, the Genetic Algorithms are introduced, and the position optimization and the dimension optimization of the bulbous bow are carried out in turn, and the optimal wave-making resistance coefficients are reached for different speeds and the form parameters of the bulbous bows are obtained.
