The Small Water-plane Area Twin Hull (SWATH) ship is composed of two submarine-like hulls that are completely submerged below the water, relatively thin vertical struts and the decks. As a new type of ship, it has the excellent comprehensive characteristics, such as less wave-making resistance, outstanding sea keeping performance, spacious deck area, etc.The object of this paper is a SWATH with obliqued struts. The obliqued struts makes the construction of each part of the SWATH is asymmetry. Nowadays, the research work of SWATH’s wave-making resistance in our country is mainly focused on those with vertical struts. Compared to that, the work on the calculation and prediction of the wave-making resistance of the SWATH with obliqued struts is very limited. To solve the problem in the preliminary design and the shape optimization of the SWATH with obliqued struts, this paper does some research work of the wave-making calculation based on the Noblesse New Slender Ship Theory. The paper does the calculation by coding Fortran programs. It also does the comparison between the result with a CFD software-Shipflow to prove its reliability and practiceness. Based on the comparison, the paper analyzes how the degree, shape and position of obliqued struts influence the wave-making resistance of the SWATH, as the proof and guidance of the design and the optimization.
