Great tonnage Semiplaning ship combines the advantages of large tonnage of displacement Vessels with the high speed of planing hulls.The semiplaning hull has been applied to various medium and small tonnage boats. Resistance prediction methods of planning (semiplaning) hulls generally fall into the following categories: planing hulls Series, prismatic equations and some theoretical methods.As a new type of ship, the researches on the great semiplaning ship began about in the 1990s. In this paper, a wave-making resistance prediction method for semiplaning ship will be presented.First, the Noblesse New Slender Ship Theory is introduced and modified to make it suitable for numerical calculation, with which we can calculate the wave-making resistance coefficient of a ship.Secondly, we discuss the resistance prediction methods for planning hulls and select the Savitsky Method to calculate the trim of a ship.Lastly, by combining the Noblesse New Slender Ship Theory and the Savitsky Method, we get the wave-making resistance prediction method for semiplaning ship. Examples of calculation are also presented.
