| Research on the integrating survey and design of railway line is of great significance for obtaining high quality of design and saving investments. Engineers and scholars have paid much attention to it for decades. We have worked on this field for many years and achieved a series of good results. This current study is focused upon the production system for integrating survey and design of railway route and the development of computer aided railway location system.Firstly, with the cases in the Second Survey and Design Institute (SSDI) of Ministry of Railway of China, this thesis sets forth the ideas, major tasks, characteristics and requirements in integrating survey and design of railway route. Based on studies of workflow, steps and major tasks, this thesis has presented a production system for SSDI to realize the integrating survey and design of railway route. Several key problems to practice the integrating survey and design have also been suggested.In second part, a computer aided railway location system developed by the author of this thesis has been introduced. This system is developed withVisual C++ and ObjectARX under the platform of AutoCAD R14.0. It includes following major functions:1) Generate of Digital Terrain Model (DTM) with random Digital Terrain Data (DTD) collected by photogrammetry.2) Design and modify the horizontal alignment by taking intersecting point and radius as design variables.3) Design and modify vertical alignment4) Checking constraints5) Design cross-section of roadbed and approximately estimate the volume of earthwork in general sections.6) Construct and view the Visual model of designed route in a 3D environment.7) Compute the distance between centers of lines8) Manage and dealt with the resulted graphs and tables.This software has been passed the expert appraisal organized by The Second Survey and Design Institute in 2001, and been considered as an important part to practice the integrating survey and design of railway route in SSDI.
