With the development of water resource and hydropower engineering, dam safety has become an important problem in hydraulic engineering.Dam monitoring and prototype observed data analysis is a chief means to guarantee the dams'safely running. The safety of medium.small sized concrete dams, which were built in 1 960'S and 1 970'S mostly,is the weakness of dam safety management. As for these dams, the observed data is scarce and the data had many errors. So the analysis method applying to big dams can't be used in medium-small ones completely,it is difficult and essential to solve the problem. The maj or obj ect of this paper is the medium.small size concrete damsthat have been used for many years. They have the characteristic that the alteration of water height of reservoirs is unobvious and the dams, displacements are affected mainly by temperature. With a case, the method of stepwise regression is used to analyze the vertical displacement prototyDe observed data. Then regression equation is established, the relation of dam,s displacement with hydraulic pressure, temperature, time effect is analyzedand the displacement change rule is obtained, the dam'S displacement onlv dependent to temperature is received.According to the theory of Finite Elements Method, the quasi-stationary temperature field formula andtemperature stress formula are deduced. The QTP program and TFEM3Dprogram are written with FORTRAN.The same case is calculated throughQTP program to solve the quasi-stationary temperature and throughTFEM3 D program to solve the dam'S displacement and find tlle dam, sdeformation rule. This rule is accordant with the regression,S resuIt....
