With the rapid development of Chinese economy, there has reveled a large need for light-gauge steel structure system in Chinese civil and industry building market, which is constituted by light-gauge steel frame and corrugated steel sheet.In a light-gauge steel structure, corrugated steel sheet can bear load with the steel frame together. Because it has large capacity of shear-resistance in its own plane. This is good for the structure to bear load in spatial manner. And this is called stressed-skin effect of corrugated steel sheet. Foreign scientists and engineers have researched into this problem for at least a half century and several well-rounded design codes has been published in Europe and North America. But in China, till now, few light-gauge steel structure has been designed by taking into account the stressed-skin effect of corrugated steel sheet, because of the absence of sophisticated research on it. That is a big waste. As the market competition become more and more severe, there are more and more researchers and steel building companies pay their attentions on the stressed-skin effect of corrugated steel sheet. Based on this background a program is launched by RESEARCH INSTITUTE OF SPACE STRUCTUES & FORM OF SOUTHEAST UNIVERSITY for the purpose of establishing a set of stressed-skin design methods that fit for the uptodate Chinese situation to meet the need of building market. And this thesis is one and first component of the program.This thesis' author spent a lot of energy on investigating the existent foreign design theories and methods, in view of Chinese situation, supplemented some of their shortages and doubted the probable mistake. Further more, the simplified analysis method on stressed-skin effect of corrugated steel sheet is also discussed in detail. By coefficient analysis, the author studied the mechanical performance of single story light-gauge structure considered the stressed-skin effect of corrugated steel sheet and drew some useful disciplines such as its route of force transmit, distributing of internal forces as well as its stabilities. These conclusions can be used to guide the structure design practices now and can also be used as references for the amending or supplementing work of Chinese light-gauge steel structures design code later.
