An Elementary Study On The Design Of The Space Of Verandas

The veranda is a kind of lively architectural type. It is widely used in all kinds of buildings, building groups and city spaces in various configurations. This thesis makes a general and in-depth study of verandas in three parts. The first part, including chapter one and chapter two, gives the basic knowledge of verandas. By inducing the essences of the space of verandas, and comparing with former concept, the concept of veranda for this thesis is available. And then, by summarizing the examples and rational analysis, the characteristics of verandas are edused.The second part, including chapter three, four and five, is the main part of this thesis. It discusses the design of the space of verandas. Human behavior is the cut-in point. According to the differences of the characters of the behavior patterns taking place in verandas, it separately discusses the corresponding design for space. By inducing and analyzing the theories, we know the influence and request from the human behavior to the space design of verandas. And then, concludes some design methods by analyzing examples. Subsequently, it summarizes some general principles for the design of verandas, in order to integrates the conclusions acquired from above.The third part, including chapter six, mainly deals with the applications of verandas, which focuses on the aspects of cities and history.
