A New Efficient Tool Of Architects

Virtual Reality is one of the newest technology in the filed of computer in the 1990s. And it is being applied on architectural design field these years. But it's mainly used as a representation tool, so that there is some misunderstanding on its application among people, including most architects. In fact, VR can be acted as a new kind of design media, and will bring some changes on the architects' thinking way.In the dissertation, standing the point of architects, the author put his focus on the " the application of VR as a design media on the architectural design". On the one side, the dissertation discusses the fields of applications on architecture, based on the character of VR. On the other side, with the project of "garden road pedestrian street" as an example, the dissertation illustrates how to construct the virtual architectural environment and how to use this VAE during the design. The aim of the dissertation is that to have a new, full re-cognition to the application of VR as a design media on the architectural design. The dissertation has about 38,000 words and 72 illustrations.
