With the worldwide competition and the continuous improvement of customers' individuation requirement, the product updating speed becomes so fast that enterprises badly need to improve their product development ability. How to develop more low-cost and high-quality products with the limited resources (equipments, human resources, etc), in the same work period, is the key to enhance enterprises' competence. Therefore, it is not only necessary for enterprises to import new management concept and technique but alse to reform the product development process in order to realize the multi-product development concurrently.Presently, there is lack of systematic support on the Multi-Product Concurrent Development Process (MPCDP). Firstly, the MPCDP is described into multi-process issue on three levels in this paper. Secondly, its integrated and uniform multi-view model is presented. Thirdly, the relevant theory and method of multi-process issue are presented in detail on every level. Finally, the multi-process issue's engineering realization with the Product Data Management (PDM) is introduced. The following aspects are involved in the paper:1.The two-dimension model of multi-process issue in the MPCDPThe level-relation of multi-process issue in the MPCDP is firstly analyzed. Then, on every level, the all-sided views expression of multi-process issue is abstracted. Furthermore, the uniform two-dimension expressing model for the three levels' multi-process issue is formed. Finally, the relation model among views is discussed. This model contains the process view, the structure view, the resource view, the information view, and the function view.2.The tasks scheduling in the multi-product developmentThe complexity of the tasks scheduling is analyzed along with establishment of the comprehensive mathematics express of the tasks scheduling in the multi-product development. Relevant feasible and simplified methods are discussed, including the tasks prior scheduling based on due-time arithmetic, the 'task-personnel' optimal assignment scheduling based on personnel work efficiency, and the personnel-actively dynamic tasks balancing strategy.3.The modeling of product concurrent development processThe multi-view integrated model of the product concurrent development process is established. The trigger time T0 model between upstream and downstream phases in the product development is discussed. Furthermore, the workflow on the phase level in the product development process is discussed.4.The implementation and application case of a PDM systemAn implementation and application case is presented, which is guided by the above relevant methods of multi-process modeling. The research is based on the project of "Application of XIBEI bearing Product Data Management system".
