Due to the development of GPS navigation technology and the trend of micromation in spacecraft designing, the spaceborne GPS receiver has become one of the indispensable payloads in small space vehicles in recent years. By virtue of the spaceborne GPS receiver, we can measure the parameters of track, attitude and time for space vehicles as well as relative distance between them. At the same time, the cost, power-consumption and mass of the spacecraft will be remarkably reduced. As the research on microsatellite has been a hot topic all over the world, the application of spaceborne GPS receiver is being given more attention by more and more correlative organizations. What's more, the application of relative positioning system will offer more powerful functions. After presenting the background knowledge of GPS, this thesis introduces the hardware and software development of spaceborne GPS receiver. The main achievement are listed below:Having completed the software design and validation tests for nanosatellite spaceborne GPS receiver (NSGR). Having accomplished the functions of upload, telemetry and remote control and validated the performance of NSGR with a series experiments, including terrestrial measuring for position and velocity, acquirement and tracking under high dynamics, together with thermal cacuum experiment and vibration experiment.Having completed the software design of miniature spaceborne GPS receiver (MSGR), which is based on the commercial-off-the shelf components. Compared to the NSGR, MSGR features lower power, smaller volume and lighter mass, and has a much better outlook of application.Having introduced the RTK technology to spaceborne GPS receivers. A preview on spaceborne relative navigation system are presented.
