With extensive using of ice storage air conditioning system, people more care how exert the advantage of it in avoiding high demand during on-peak and reducing the operating cost cooling equipment. In a design period, the designer can not make the system are most effective in any state, because a survey indicated that the time of thermal storage system running in design state is much less that in other state. The efficiency lie on operation according as equipment, environment and cooling load.In the thesis, With predicting the cooling load, we study the optimal control of ice storage system in nonstandard state using dynamic programming for the more system is not designed or operated according to optimal method.After introduce the development and structure of the system, we use Artificial Neural Network (ANN) method to predict the cooling load according to atmosphere temperature and solar radiation. We take model of system and primary equipment (chiller and ice storage) and optimize control use dynamic programming. Finally, in an example (The system consists of a screw chiller, an internal melt ice on coil storage, cooling tower and the accessory pump), the plant model is realistic in that it models various components using curves fit to dimensionless performance data of commercially available equipments. Then, we take operating cost as goal function; take performance of chiller and ice storage and cooling load as restriction. With backward induction method of dynamic programming, we solve the optimal question and gain the hourly capacity of chiller and ice storage when operating cost are least in the whole running period. And we compare the result of optimal control with chiller-priority and storage-priority control.The dynamic programming can solve optimal question not only in the operation control but also in the designing. We can gain the optimal equipment scheme and the best times of reclaim investment when we use dynamic programming in designing an ice-storage air-conditioning system. Author wish the paper are beneficial to people who design and operate the ice storage air conditioning system.
