The use of computer science and technology in intelligent management and processing of dam safety monitoring information is a development trend of dam safety monitoring system. Data mining is a process of extracting previously unknown, actionable information from large database. Based on the key program of the National Natural Science Foundation of China (Hidden Trouble Detection and Health Diagnosis of Large Hydraulic Concrete Structure), this paper discusses the problems of how using data mining on dam safety monitoring information. The main contents are as follows:(1) Analyzing the process of data mining on dam safety monitoring information. Designing the framework of the data mining application platform for dam safety monitoring information. The paper also discusses main part of system.(2) Presenting the system structure, data modeling and the practicing process of data warehouse of dam safety monitoring information. Discussing the data preprocessing module of the data mining application platform, bringing forward the rule algorithm to achieve the filtering of monitoring data, and giving the Chi2 algorithm for the feature selection.(3) Studying the similarity sequence mining algorithm on time-series database. With the character of dam monitoring data, bringing forward the extremum matching method in the process of subsequence matching. Applying the mining algorithm to the practicing project.(4) The paper also discusses data visualization and visual data mining, gives two ways of showing multi-dimension data, the box plot graph and the parallel coordinates method.
