Transient recorder has many advantages, such as it is flexible, convenient, functional and advanced, it can inspect several parameters of running system, and thus, transient recorder can solve the problem of how to capture the transient signals in much modern scientific research.The paper is mainly about the study of 14bit 4-channels transient recorder on the basis of introducing transient recorder actuality and virtual instrument. On the premise of presenting the system structure and working principles, the academic analysis and design scheme of active-low-pass filter in data collection module is put forward. Then the paper talks about the technology of CPLD, and through the applied examples in system, the merits of CPLD are obvious. And in the following part of the paper, three questions are discussed: reliability, error and performance standards of the system. The system reliability is improved by some particular measures in plate making and debugging; and as to the system error and performance standards, the paper provides general academic analysis and arithmetic, also simulating and real testing is carried out, and at last, a satisfactory result is got. Academic analysis and real testing result makes clear that the design scheme of 14bit 4-channels transient recorder is correct and feasible, and the instrument satisfied the request of technology standards, and its performance is steady. All the above shows that 14bit 4-channels transient recorder has the academic significance and application valve.
