The application of urban rainwater is an effective approach to solve the lack problem of water resources in Xi'an city. On the basis of large sum of articles about relative literatures, a reasonable subarea of the city zone for reuse of rainwater in Xi'an is put forwards. Rainwater of precipitation and runoff is sampled and the runoff quality is analyzed on the different surface of rainwater catchments. It shows that the researches can provide good methods to treat and manage urban rainwater.According to the analysis of surface runoff quality, equipment development, experimentation investigation, mathematical analysis and the calculation, In the thesis a reasonable subareas for rainwater utilization is put forward, an automatic collection for runoff samplings on road is developed, and then author contrast the data of all kinds of surface runoff quality on the waterproof underlying surface, and calculate the available rainfall amounts of a typical district. At last the suitable measurements to use rainwater for Xi'an city are presented. The main conclusions of the thesis are listed as follow:1. Xi'an city is compartmentalized to seven districts by the local industry and environment background. The first rainwater catchment area are the culture and education districts, the industrial estate, the development area, the newly-built ecological residential districts, and prospect the great future of the urban collecting rain utilization with the fourth Xi'an city general planning.2. Xi'an University of Technology is researched as the culture and education model district. The experiment is began with the natural rainwater quality, the runoff quality on the diverse roofage and different grade roadway, the results are as follows: The natural rainwater is good soft water, sometimes ammonia nitrogen content is more. The roof runoff quality is cleaner than the roadway runoff quality, the concrete board roof and the waterproof brick roof runoff quality is better than the SBS roof runoff quality; the intramural roadway runoff quality is cleaner than the urban road. The city main artery runoff is worse than the secondary main road runoff. The roofrunoff is made up of ammonia nitrogen and oxygen consuming matter, the roadway runoff composition are turbidity, COD, total lead etc. The runoff quality will be reduced to steady gradually along with the rainfall duration increase, but would be abrupt with the sudden rainfall intensity transformation. There is a fine linear correlation relation between the COD value and the turbidity in the roof and campus road runoff. To confirm the discardable precipitation rainfall at the initial stages on the campus waterproof underlying surfaces.3. Work out the quantity of available annual runoff on the roof and the roadway in Jinhua schoolyard of Xi'an University of Technology. The figure is 304.65mm and accounts for 48.8 percent of rainfall.4. By the each rainwater utilization approach compared, summarizing the appropriate method to suit Xi'an city rainwater utilizing. The low infiltration greenbelt, rainwater artificial recharge engineering and ecological district integrated utilization system will be fit to Xi'an city and be good to apply widely.
