Thermal stress and temperature control is crucial in mass concrete structure. Especially in RCC arch dam, the question of thermal stress is particularly outstanding. Because of the complexity of stress state in arch dam body and the disparity of rolled compacted concrete material, while the dam body is fracturing under thermal stress function, it is hard to confirm which section fractures at first, so has chosen set up induced crack to control the cracks of dam body. Considering the influence of induced crack correctly when carrying on the simulation analysis of the thermal stress field of RCC arch dam, could get the correct conclusion.Owing to multi-lift characteristics of RCC arch dam, great efforts ofcalculative work should be taken for computing 3-D temperature and stressfields of the dams. In order to reduce the calculation scale of the simulation,"3-D Finite Element Relocating Mesh Method" is adopted, the precision canbe assured and the amount of the calculation is reduced.Have just weakened the cross section by induced crack, the dam body is not complete disconnection in fact, and its cross section has still kept part even most of tensile strength. According to this characteristic of induced crack, on the existing research results, the simulation method of induced crack in simulation analysis of the thermal stress of RCC arch dam is presented, and simulation program for RCC arch dam with induced crack is worked out using 3-D finite element method. This program can reflect the influence on thermal stress field of dam body during construction and operation which induced crackmade in different positions.Based on the construction schedule and thermodynamics parameters of certain RCC arch dam, under the two situation of with or without induced crack, the thermal stress fields of dam during construction and operation were computed. Through comparing and analyzing, the result of influence on thermal stress field of RCC arch dam during construction and operation which induced crack impact were drawn, accord with the laws of the influence on thermal stress field of RCC arch dam induced crack caused.
