Contemporary war has a characteristic of fulminating, short-period and highly-wasting. Under the restriction of current manufacturing capacity and producing mode of Chinese war industry, another way should be found to satisfy the need of rapid response and volume-produce as war breaks out, to support product-line's replicating, manufacturing chain's associating in order to form a united producing mode. Rapid Extended Manufacturing (REM) is such a new concept for war.In order to produce enough weapons for war in a short period, REM divides weapon and equipment product into several segments such as modules, sub-modules, components and parts, then optimizes and validates process of each segment. After that, it distributes the manufacturing tasks to numerous Manufacturing Cells which have a certain capacity, and to merge all kinds of resources to engender clustering effect.Rapid Extended Manufacturing Cell (REMC) is the basis of REM, which is also the place of manufacturing execution and shaping. Based on product process, RKMC integrates and encapsulates manufacturing resources such as human, devices, machines, management methods, technologies and knowledge, then provides different kinds of manufacturing services by reconfiguring internal elements prescription and structure.This paper is concentrated on how to describing the features and running principles of REMC, how to control and manage REMC by information technology, and how to build and form a REMC based on current factory. The content is mainly including:[1]. established theoretic model of REMC. Based on cell-manufacturing and integrated manufacturing theory, this paper used object-oriented multi-view complex system analysis method to establish the life-cycle model, process model, layer structure information model, virtual resource model, role-authorization-based double functional organization model and modular-concept-based function model, and also to expound REMC's dynamic-build theory by reconfiguring internal resources.[2J. Designed and partly developed Execution Control System (ECS) of RKMC Based on Architecture-based Component (ABC) development method and Java 2 Enterprise Edition (J2EE) platform, this paper designed ECS's system architecture, which used Enterprise Java Beans (EJB) to develop business components of server side and used Java Web Start to deploy client side application smartly. And the design and development approach of the Workflow Engine component which is based on Finite State Machine (FSM) had also been introduced in detail.[3]. Put forward the constructing approach of REMC. The roadmap of changingcurrent factory into REMC and the approach of reconfiguring REMC rapidly by capacity-requirement matching arithmetic are discussed firstly. Then this paper made a case study of A factory in order to illuminate the work list, notices and delivery of every implementation stage. The integration means of heterogeneous Computer Numeric Control (CNC), the material flow management method and real-time quality control technique were discussed as well.[4]. REM chain's mathematic modeling. Based on the analysis of forming principle of REM chain, this paper brought forward tasks - resources matching arithmetic under the restriction of time and cost, multi-level planning arithmetic and scheduling rules. This paper also formulized task description and evaluated manufacturing capacity on Analysis Hierarchy Process (AHP).
