There are some problems in data preprocessing for digital relays now. This paper introduces the research actuality and development of data preprocessing for digital relays home and abroad, and analyzes the characteristics of various filter algorithms. The paper discusses the requirements of different protection relays for filtering algorithm and preprocessing for hardware. According to need of general hardware platform in protection relays, the paper puts forward a new assume about data preprocessing, which uses FPGA as hardware system. This paper finishes basic hardware circuit and filtering algorithm design. Based on FPGA's advantage in real-time signal processing, the data acquisition system of digital relays is designed. The system implements multi-channel synchronous sampling and immediate processing. Through the concepts of parallel calculation and modularization, the filtering algorithms of full-cycle Fourier and Kalman are realized elementarily, and are used in general hardware platform of protection relays.
