Based on the measurements of JZ20-2 platform in Bohai bay, an examination of the interaction between the ice sheet and the cone is made. giving a review of related research consequences at abroad and home, an discussion of dynamic ice force dominates the domain, the breaking length is the key to the dynamic ice force research.A discussion of the mechanism of ice-induced vibration is given, a description of the characteristic of dynamic ice forced is presented, a simplified dynamic ice force function and the determination of related parameters are discussed.1-point-and-multi-point-into-final-interface is given. how the ice sheet rides up on the face of the cone is also presented. eventually 3-D contact modes of two dominate failure scenarios are proposed, the mechanism of two dominate failure scenarios is proposed, namely failure in tensile stressA theoretical analysis of the breaking ice force and the boundary condition of the ice sheet is given, divided into two categories, 1, the ice sheet applied by the concentrated force, 2, by the distributed force.A numerical analysis of the relations between the ratio of width to thickness and failure scenarios is given, reducing the ice sheet into elastic plate applied by different forces, the failure modes are deduced by computing the distribution of the stress in the direction of the length of the plate, by comparing to the admitted characteristic of two dominate failure scenarios at the breaking point of the ice sheet, in this way, the relations between the ratio of width to thickness and failure scenarios is examined.According to the failure mechanism of ice sheet, the point of maximal tensile stress is the breaking point, a numerical prediction of breaking length is examined. the predicted values have a good agreement with the measured values.
