| In 2009,300000 DWT oil terminal in Changxing Island,Dalian,located in seasonal freezing sea area of Bohai,was constructed.It is an open sea terminal with the structure of gravity pier.Ice load must be taken into account in the stages of design and use.At the beginning of design,icebreaking cone was put forward to ensure the structural safety.In this paper,the calculation formula of ice load and the applicability of ice force using standard value that applied in italic structure are listed and discussed based on the research results here and abroad.The rationality and necessity of icebreaking cone are also explained by comparing of the calculated ice pressure value of italic conical surface and vertical piers.In addition,the ice-breaking effect and design accuracy were verified based on the physical model of 300000 DWT oil terminal.The advantage of ice-breaking cone have been proved through several-years application..The Ice-breaking cone structure applied in Dlian 300,000 DWT oil terminal in Changxing Island is the first practical application for open gravity pier wharf.This application provides a practical solution on how to eliminate the sea ice impact for large open sea terminals and how to reduce the effect of sea ice. |
