The Application Of Timber Structures In Landscape Architecture

Wood has been one of the most ancient architectural materials and has been widely used in architectures. Today, It is still widely applied in architecture and landscape design due to its structure properties, environmental benefits and unique aesthetic value, despite the fact that there are more and more new materials available. However, the research on timber structures applied in landscape design is incompatible with its wide application. It is of realistic significance to develop ways of applying timber structures in landscape design that can highlight the properties and benefits of wood.This paper analyzes the physical, mechanical and aesthetic properties of wood, discusses the key technical and artistic elements in the design of timber structures, and explores the general principles of the combination of function with art through examples. With considerations to the practical and aesthetic functions that timber structures should meet and the influence of modem technology on the design of timber structures, this paper summarizes the design approaches of timber structures in the structure system, structure connection and detail treatment, clarifies the rules in timber structure design, offers better connection approaches and detail treatment methods and provides helpful guidance for timber structure design.
