The automation of a substation is an integrated technology of many different specialties, based on microcomputer. Not only this automation achieves the full-scale rebuilding of relay protection, control manner, measuring mean, the module of communication and management for the traditional substation, but also it brings a great change into running management for electric power system grid. In my paper, it introduces an idiographic implement of an interface of man/machine and a communication of protecting and monitoring functions, and it concludes the design of interface of CANBUS, communication program, LCD display and keyboard. This paper presents technology and designs a common hardware platform to implement protecting and monitoring functions. Considering the special demand of substation's bay unit and the characteristic of CAN2.0B protocol, a high effective, reliable, and well functional protocols are formulated to fulfil the demand of real time of system.
