Visualization is the intuitional and figurative expression and interaction dealing of large quantity of abstract data in the form of graph and image. These abstract data are resulted from science calculation. Researches of visualization in our country which started in 1990s have been used in many fields since then, which are of great significance no matter in science, engineering, technical economy or social effectiveness.Based on the development platform of AutoCAD, using the supporting of object ARX 2000,this paper researches the visualization methods and techniques on visualization and simulation of flow fields and its application in passageways designing of pump station by adopting the programming tool of visual C++6.0.This paper includes three main contents:1. Establish the model of the visualization method of flow field .It has 'two parts: establishing the model of section visualization and the model of streamlines structure.The main content of visualization of passageways section is dealing with equal velocity lines. Flow velocity can be divided into axial flow velocity, radial flow one and circumferential flow one in 3D computational flow fields. Because of being concerned with axial flow velocity, we can simplify it into taking out the equivalent lines of 2D scalar field.In this paper, a new method is presented to resolve the duality in dealing with the taking-out problem. In the aspect of structure model of streamlines, the paper adopts the streamlines structure method with the decomposing model of the flow movement on the base of traditional researching method, and uses the technique of particle tracking.2. The techniques of visualization and simulation of flow fields are realized in the environment of CAD.3. In the paper, the visualization methods and techniques of visualization and simulation of flow fields are applied to the passageways design of pump station.The passageways design of pump station includes large quantity of data no matter in 3D velocity of flow or the form of the passageways itself. Using the technique of visualization of flow fields, we can turn these data into graphs, which are more intuitional and figurative and convenient to interaction dealing. The results of the researching prove that the realization method of visualization and technology of visualization and simulation of flow fields in the environment of AutoCAD can fully take advantage of the exiting resources and are easy to be done, whose effects are good in practical application. The main creations of this paper:(1) Advanced CAD, autoCAD secondary development platform of object ARX2000 and the advanced programming language of visual C++ are applied to passageways design of large pump station.(2)With CFD computational flow fields of passageways, the methods of visualization flow fields are researched, which are suitable for the post-processing, e.g. the equal velocity lines graph of passageways section visualization of CAD, and the visualization methods such as streamlines, streamtubes, streamribbon and stream-surface and so on. These methods can figuratively reflect the calculation results of CFD of passageways, and be advantageous to the modification of the deficiency in design. (3) a good platform is offered for the application of the theory and method of passageways 3D design.
