The Northwest Region is a historic region in China. But both the climate and the traffic are very badly in there. And the speed of social development is slowly. The region deeply locates inner parts of Europe and Asia. The damp air current on the ocean can hardly arrive here because of surrounded mountains, so the climate is aridity and the season is clear all the year round. It is a big problem about the bad climate and the Short of resources of water in the city construction. With the performances of urbanizations and the improvements of city residents' living condition quantity, it is becoming necessary to solve the antinomy between person and nature rightly in the construction of public open space.With the development of the human society, the people comprehend themselves and the living environment around them well gradually. And the research for natural environment is deep going continuously. But the differences of the district, climate and custom would affect the forms of the public open space. Urban plaza is the opening spaces of city. And the plaza must be high quantity and multifunctional appearance. A great deal of urban plazas have been built for improve civic living environment in Northwest city. But the local decision making mechanism of city development is not integrity. The urban plaza became some local government official's achievement. However, the globalization of technology pound at the district culture. And because of the local official's one-side comprehension the plaza's local identity fade away.My degree's dissertation discusses the growth of urban square and the diversified needs of city residents for public space, commencing from the macroscopic angle of the city planning and combining the natural ecosystem Northwest of China.
