The traffic question is to perplex the city throughout the world, especially one of primary problems of the large and medium cities all the time. To solve this problem, the governments and professionals all over the world have taken many measures. Un-. fortunately, the goal has never been achieved with satisfying results. The experience proved that the only way to overcome this problem is transportation restrain, which will lead to the balance of supply & demand of transportation. To carry out this plan by governmental mode, there must be a prerequisite that there exist an alternative transportation system, especially Urban Rail Transportation System (URTS). Therefor, the study of URTS is becoming an important research subject.On the basis of studying vast research papers and reports on city traffic plan and urban rail transportation plan, the planning of urban rail network is explored and studiedThe main conclusions are as follows:1. The author has carried on systematic research and exposition to the theory of network planning of the urban rail transportation.2. She has calculated the scale of the rail network. She put forwarded reasonable meaning of rail network scale. The author also pointed out that reasonable scale of rail network depends on a lot of factors. It is the quantity of many goals and many natures. The scale of rail network should be calculated according to the rate of passenger flow shared by subway, is it estimate the total length, subway network of circuit to come according to urban population and area confirmed density of subway network index with urban public transit total amount Degree.3. The author set up technological evaluation index system of subway network planning, put forwarded subway network of circuit length, subway network coverage rate, main to feed through such odd quantitative basic indexes as degree ,etc. a bit while being collecting and distributing, coverage rate of circuit length per unit, the intensity of passenger flow of the subway network ,etc. make such five indexes of determining the nature as the index and planning demand, development potentiality along the line, complexity of the project for meeting the city ,etc. up .
