Study On Waterfront Of Yellow River In Lanzhou Adapted To The Human Activities

Waterfront is one of the most sensitive areas to city environment and the economy civilization, while the walk area, namely, the side of Bank River is quite important to the city bank design, among which, the substantial dimension and the human activity are of the two essential factors for the research, besides, the interaction between these two factors is really worthy of being studied for us. The substantial dimension is the entity of the space form, furthermore, it bears the weight of city life. Correspondingly, the human activity is the customers of citv space, which is also our terminal goal of city design.As we city planner and designer always emphasized, the task of city design is creating both artificial and natural environment to make human activity more interesting and finally serving to improve space environment quality and the life quality for the civilian. The environment quality is based on the civilians' requirements and it also presents the goodness of the space environment level. The application of all these conditions to the city depends on the degree of making us joyful, harmonizing with nature, matching to our taste, and eliminating the inharmonious contrast as well.The study preliminary based on the environment psychology and activity psychology, and systematically followed a set of theories, such as city planning and designing theory, the related aesthetics theory etc. furthermore, the study substantially gave an example on waterfront of Yellow River in Lanzhou to analyze the relation between the human activities and environment. We finally got some design models and ideas, which arouse the city designers to pay more attention on the mentality and human activities among the substantial space.The whole study was conducted from five parts, say, following five chapters:The first chapter mainly present the problem the researchers concerned, including the research angle, the cut points, the meaning, etc. Besides, the related concept and important theory are introduced in this chapter. Moreover, research methodologies are also given in this part.Second chapter started with the fundamental theory and introduced the developed level of the theory nationally and internationally. The concepts of "Action" , "Space" and "Action and Space" were then respectively clarified from the theory angle.The third and forth chapters based on the field survey the researcher had done in the waterfront of Lanzhou Yellow River, investigated the human activity of the walk area, and analyzed the interaction between every essential factors and the activities in the environment space, and finally sought to the humanistic design in the whole environment planning and designing.Based on the fundamental theory of environment psychology, some suggestions to the walk area of the bank river are present in the fifth chapter.
