The method applying tuned liquid dampers (TLD) to control vibration attracts more and more researchers in recent studies. Much done is the experimental research of this system. TLD systems have been practically applied to control vibration for many obvious virtues, and observable effects of vibration control have been obtained. But the research applying TLD to control the dynamic response of high-rise building and tall construction is limited to wind-vibrations, and the technique to control earthquake response of high-rise building is incomplete, many problems are to be resolved.Some factors which affect vibration control effects of TLD system have been studied, such as the dynamic characteristics of the high-rise buildings itself, earthquake excitation and parameters of TLD system. 21, 26, 30 stories high-rise building structural models have been selected, under the earthquake Elcentro, 2TEL, 3TEL excitateding, the sensibility of the frequency ratio which affects the effects of the vibration control, the mass and damper ratio of TLD system have been studied. The high-rise buildings, of which first three vibration modes has been respectively controlled, are comparatively studied, the vibration control effects affected by the dynamic parameters of MTLD are also studied.The high-rise buildings studied have been simplified as story model, and time-analyzed by the compute program designed according to Wilson-0 method in code C, parameters of the TLD system have also been optimized.Some useful results which may be referred in practical design are obtained based on the study above.
