Abstract: Based on some typical examples of irregular tall building and according to specification on irregularity in all building structure design in some codes, which including Code for Aseimic Design of Building Structure, Technical Specification for Concrete Structures of Tall Building, Specification in Shanghai and UBC-1997 Code in USA, we analyzed and introduced some solutions of common problems existing in this tall building structure design in this paper. Explained some technique in the SATWE software using process There existed four parts in this paper. The first part is introduction, the importance and meaning on how to discuss irregularity in tall building design is introduced briefly. Symmetrical structure is often meted in design (The Symmetry is different from Symmetrical content in our life, which including not only plane symmetry, but also the symmetry of plane stiffness and structural members resisting lateral forces. The second part is introduction. This part is divided into four small parts, they can be summarized as the following: 1) The symmetry and homogeneity of tall building is presented in four aspects:(1) The lateral rigidity of tall building follows two principal axises direction and the characteristic of deformation are very alike.(2)structural members resisting lateral forces of the tall building follows change toward cross section, there must not exist abrupt change in stiffness.(3) the flat surface of the building anti- lateral forces structure arrange, should notice the same anti-lateral forces structure member (4) structure stiffness is as far as possible reasonable, should avoid one or two slices stiffness in the corpus structure arrange is special big and which ductility is worse.2) the load spreading is direct, the load is divided into the lateral load and vertical load, the load spreading is direct and brief ,avoid spreading the load complicatedly, analyzed the characteristics of the building. Purpose that discusses this is: The wind load and the earthquake load is the control load to the high building.3) structure stiffness must reasonable. Structural stiffness following the height to change must reasonable. 4) The space exploitation of the building. Creating a useful space is a basic purpose of structure and building designs, making the building work better for the service. The third part: Related code of our country to building relevant provision that structure is irregular. Discussed our country code in detail to the related provision of the irregular building, the author combined the actual engineering and structure design experience, explained the comprehension of our country code. For a long time, the code is always the law that the designer must followed, but how to use the code better, is always difficult problem to the designer. The writer experienced "89" code and "2000" code, also attending to the code study class for many times, by the study class and the engineering design, also had the certain comprehension to our country code. Currently, the domestic and international design profession is more mature to irregular research theories of structure, there have many concrete method that have been used in the actual engineering , this also is the reason that appearing at home and abroad a lot of" extremely high", the reason of the high building of" super limit" in the last few years. The fulfillment that turns over these engineering provided thorough data to the establishment of code again, the further modification of these previous experiences for code.
