This paper is a part of the research on the machine-electricity product quick quote system through Internet, introduces the product redesign system which is based on the case-based reasoning technology. Based on the concept of case model, according to the design request and product characteristic, establishes a model of the product. In order to improve the degree of automation of design of machine product, study a key technology of the conceptual design based on CBR: case adaptation. This paper is in the thorough understanding of the trend of the CBR technology and analyzes several methods of case adaptation, puts forward a method to integrating CBR and RBR into the process of case adaptation, and sets up a model to have the process of case adaptation: CBA (case-based adaptation) model. Centered on how to modify cases, some key points have been analyzed. First, points out that a CBR system must consider the relationships of case expression, case index and case adaptation generally, emphasizes the importance of the methods of knowledge expression. Then, analyzes the composing principles of the model of CBA, explains how the model carry on the process of case adaptation, working mechanism, matching algorithm for CBA, retrieval of adaptation case, and points out the actual problems that the model of CBA faces. Finally, put forward a set of solutions to solving the problems, that is, use the viewpoint of malfunction diagnosis to treat the diagnosis and determine of case parameter adjustment, and the method of data dig to learn adaptation knowledge from case database. The modification of case is a complicated and fundamental research work, so the research of this paper is just the first step to build up an applied mold of case adaptation.
