When an earthquake is coming, the active beam link of an eccentrically braced steel frame(EBSF) becomes plastic earlier, then it consumes the energy of earthquake by it's plastic deformation and accordingly the internal force of other components such as columns, beams and braces will be reduced, so that the whole structure will be much more safe.Firstly, this thesis presents the relevant developing situation of EBSF inside and outside China and design method of the components such as active beam link and brace. After that, applying the virtual work theory, the analysis of the influence of different lengths of active beam link and different types of EBSF on anti-seismic capability of the structure is expatiated.After that, this thesis also further presents the stiffness matrix equation of all components and damping matrix which are used in nonlinear analysis. In addition, three kinds of solutions to dynamic equation and P-â–³ effects are also introduced.Lastly, some relevant examples are presented about different lengths of active beam link and different types of EBSF. Then those examples are calculated by finite element analytical software SAP2000. Finally, after analyzing the results of calculating, this thesis presents some conclusions which are applicable to structural designs.
