Slab-column structure is a kind of structure that its flat plates are directly supported on the columns, it has been about one hundred years. Because the working mechanism of slab-column structure is very complicated, by now, there is not a perfect design theory for it. This restricts the popularizing and appliance of the structure. However, the floor height of slab-column structure is relatively small and its construction is convenient, it will be firstly adopted if the height of building is restricted , and its economy benefit will be very marked. By means of the academic analysis, the finite element analysis and the test, this paper discusses the calculating width of the equivalent beam of slab-column structure subjected to low cycle level load, the failure pattern of the interior joint for slab-column structure, and it's mechanic characteristics.With the aid of the finite element analysis software ANSYS, the major parameters which affect the calculating width of the equivalent beam are analyzed, and according to the principle that the top displacement of the slab-column connection equals to the one of the equivalent beam-column connection, the formula for the calculating width of the equivalent beam is given.Compared with the test results, the formula for the capacity bearing the impulsive load of the slab-column joints which is given by the Code for Concrete Structure(GB50010-2002) is verified to be rational. Based on the formula for the calculating width the equivalent beam and the analysis of a series of test results, the formula for the capacity bearing the bending load of the slab-column interior joints is put forward, and the discriminant for the failure pattern is given.This paper introduces two specimens of the slab-column interior joints subjects to the low cycle level load, and describes the characteristic of the slab-column connection under the level load. The formula for the calculating width of the equivalent beam is verified, and the load-displacement hysteresis curves and the load-strain curves of the steel bar are given. The ductility characteristic and the capacity for dissipating energy of the slab-column structure are analyzed, and the discriminant for the failure pattern of the slab-column connection is verified.
