As the domestic motorcycle emission regulations getting stricter in China, applying EFI(Electronic Fuel Injection) system on engine is the effective way to meet the high standard by remarkably reducing emissions, and could improve fuel economy, is the main direction of technical development for motorcycle enterprises in China. The goal of this project is to develop the hardware and software of ECU(Electronic Control Unit) for single-cylinder motorcycle engine. This project has strong practicability and quite high social value. In order to reduce the cost of electronic control system for motorcycle, Basing on the previous hardware and software of ECU in our research lab, this project at first compares Motorola's MC68HC08, MC68HC11 and MC68HC12 microcontrollers in aspects of hardware, chooses the highest cost performance ratio microcontroller MC68HC08, then completes developing the hardware of ECU. From the method of forward development, describes the design idea and realization way of the EFI system software for motorcycle engine, and programs the software by high level language(C language), completes designing and developing the software of ECU. Additionally, this project gives a simple and low cost scheme of idle close-loop control for motorcycle, which uses duty ratio valve to control by-pass air channel, and makes the feasibility test. The ECU is experimentally validated both on the Engine Simulator and actual motorcycle. All functions of the ECU are demonstrated to be correct upon experiments data, and reaches the anticipative goal. At the end of this thesis, generalize the development of ECU and indicate the aspects to be improved in the future.
