A Study Of The Formation And Meaning Of Landmark Landscape

Based on system theory, sociology, civilization history and psychology ,with the differentiating and analyzing of landmark landscape antitype, this thesis explains the formation of landmark landscape and the significance of it to sociology,civilization history and human settlements. It composes of five chapters. In chapter one, it focuses on the investigating background, the study frame content and the meaning of study. Chapter two discusses the formation of landmark landscape. It makes analyses of the concept and characteristic about landmark and landmark system, and puts forward a landmark viewpoint of vision landscape. Chapter three argues about the significance of landmark to the civilization history. Based on the three integral civilization history train which are myth, religion and indurstry, it reveals in detail the significance of landmark to the choice of inhabitation, structure of settlements, psychology of religion, city identity and city competition nowadays. Chapter four discusses the important of landmark in sociology. It analyzes the effects of landmark in forepart science discovery and formation of architecture esthetics and the sociology significance such as self-identity, individual orientation, society system regulating .The fifth chapter concerns the significance of landmark, consists of vision landmark, hearing landmark, smell landmark etc, to the human settlements which is divided into three levels such as zone, vision scopes, domain. In the afterward, the thesis argues the profound reason to the emphasizing of city identity construction.
