Rapid Prototyping is a newly emerged technology that was developed in late 1980's. It has dramatically changed the traditional manufacturing style. Stereolithography has been researched earlier. Stereolithography can generate parts with high accuracy and has been widely used. Technologic support is needed to confine the change of part's form during making in stereolithography. Recently support designing is becoming a bottleneck problem in StereoLithography. In order to develop the StereoLithography Apparatus, the Algorithm of Technologic Support Generation for Stereolithgraphy is researched in this thesis.The thesis "The research on the automatic pillar support generation algorithm for stereolithgraphy" is based on the merits and demerits of the predecessors' work and existed automatic support generation algorithms, combined the technologic characters of stereolithgraphy system, to find out a new support structure, strengthen the software system of stereolithgraphy and meet the needs of various parts.In the thesis, we present a new structure of technologic support for stereolithgraphy, solid pillar support. ?Two sorts of automatic support generation algorithm, ergodic stationing rays support generation algorithm and ergodic curved triangles support generation algorithm, are introduced to realize support in STL format. Moreover, the cross pillar support and the point pillar support, which are in ZIF format, are researched in the thesis. It is shown that the algorithms have realized the real-time simulation of pillar support generation and have gotten a good result in making parts. The software of pillar support generation algorithms has been applied to the system of stereolithography.
