The Research On Web Services Technology For Application Control In Home Network

With the rapid development of Information Appliance (IA) and Internet, We hope the IA can be connected to make up of the Home Network to visit the Internet. But there are too many transfers physical medium, protocols and standards that can't be compatibility in Home Network to implement the discovery, communication and integration between the different IA terminals. Now there many middleware protocols such as Jini or Upnp to settle these questions, but these solutions all have different limitation. The purpose of this paper is to find an ideal solution to implement the seamless integrations and controls for the IA in Home Network.Web Services is the best solution for appliances integration in Internet. At the beginning of this paper, we analyses the Web Services, discuss the Web Services' protocols and characteristic. Than we discuss the Home Network's requirement. In chap4, we discuss the implement for the plus and play, remote controlling and intelligent controlling of Home Network base on the Web services in principle first, than we give a simple demo to demonstrate these functions' information flow progress.Now the research of Home Network base on Web Services is rare. But Web services' perfect representation in Internet Appliance integrations has indicated that it is fit to Home Network. The demo of this paper is very simple, but it proved the feasibility that Web Services can be used in Home Network. And the discuss of information flow in the control progress direct that the Web Services is also fit to the Remote Control System in Internet. Before the discuss, we introduce the XML and .Net. At the end the contribution and innovation in the paper are collected, and some remain problems are pointed out with the direction of the next research steps.
