Automated Highway System (AHS) is a uppermost subsystem of Intelligent Transport System (ITS). The system includes vehicle automatic navigation and control, traffic management automation and traffic accident treatment automation. This dissertation does some in-depth study of vehicle automated driving system(lane keeping system) in AHS site on the testing vehicle for AHS and the magnetic markers road in National Intelligent Transport System Center and an automated driving simulator developed by our group.The research of automated driving system is restricted by time and space because of the research must be based on the special vehicle and road. And more, the research of automated drive in team or based on traffic-flow is hard to realize because of the limited outlay.Our group transplant the outcome of automated driving study based on the special road to the automated driving simulator developed by us, so we can take the research on the simulator. Then the research can bring better results by get rid of the limitation of space , time and outlay.The work of this dissertation is focus on mainly:(1) The new research methods and experimental data are given out based on the special vehicle and road.(2) The elements, hardware implementation and software design of vehicle driving simulator.(3) The practicality of the automated driving simulator is analyzed, and the methods of key signs transplantation and the results of system integration are studied.(4) The PID and neural network control model in automated driving simulator are used, and a comparative analysis of data from real experimentation site on special road and imitated experimentation site on automated drivingsimulator is done.(5) The advantages and disadvantages of real experimentation and imitated experimentation are discussed, and the necessity and methods of complement this two research methods one another are given out. Some new ideas on in-depth research for AHS are put out.
