The mass of this paper is to discuss the method of placing steel bars in accordance with stress diagrams for non-pole structure with a instance of the thick plate transition layer. By expanding the general design method of thick plate transition layer of high-rise buildings and analyzing and summarizing its existing problems, this paper point out some shortcomings exist in them , like there are too many artificial assumptions , the non-pole mechanical properties of the thick plate isn t reflect accurately , the mutual affection between the thick plate and the columns or shear walls which connect to it is omitted , and ect . To eliminate these shortcomings , the paper puts forward a new method of placing steel bars in accordance with finite elements analysis and stress diagrams , and it designs and calculates one of the thick plate transition layer of high-rise buildings . Thus , it is illustrated that the method put forward in this paper is rational and practical .Some useful discussion is carried on to perfect the design of thick plate transition layer of high-rise buildings , and some valuable conclusions are achieved .Combining the actual instance of a project , this paper analyzes the stress distribution of the whole thick plate transition layer and proceeds the design of placing bars by the method of placing steel bars in accordancewith stress diagrams . In this method , the first step is to analyze the whole structure of tall building which comprising the thick plate transition layer , obtain the inner forces of the columns and the shear walls which connect to the thick plate , these inner forces are the loads acting on the thick plate transition layer ; then create a combined FEA model using solid elements that consist of the thick plate and the columns or shear walls which connect to it , and then work out the stress distribution of this model ; the last step is to proceed the design of placing steel bars in terms of the method of placing steel bars in according with the stress diagrams , this method is addressed in the appendix H "Code of Design Hydraulic Concrete Structure " (DL/T5057-1996). It points out the similarity and diversity between the common design methods and the method of placing steel bars in according with stress diagrams put forward by this paper . these work also interpret the feasibility and practicality of using the whole analysis method and the method of placing steel bars in according with stress diagrams in the design of non-pole structure systems .The design method brought up by this paper is brief and to the point theoretically , but there aren't design software basing on this method yet .because the building code does't contain the items about the method of placing steel bars in according with the stress diagrams with regard to non-pole structures . So, a program is designed by MATLAB , this program reads the output data from the ANSYS and figure out the areas of steel bars by the stress diagrams .The work and some conclusions of this paper can be referred not only to the design of the thick plate transition layer , but also to the design of other non-pole structures .
