The axial-compression intensity and distortion characteristics of the reinforced concrete columns wrapped with fiber reinforced plastics are mainly studied. Finite element model, element type, material constitutive model of the reinforced concrete columns are set up and the ultimate compressive strength of the reinforced concrete columns wrapped with FRP under axial loads in different strengthen parameters was done by ANSYS. The results shows that the lateral deformation was confined effectively and the ultimate compressive strength was increased, the ductility was improved. The effectiveness of the factors such as FRP in different kinds, layers, spaces and sections of the columns is analyzed in details , and the optimum FRP layers and spaces are gain. A practical calculating formula of the ultimate compressive strength of the reinforced concrete columns wrapped with FRP under axial loads is proposed based on test theory, FEM calculate simulation and strengthen mechanism. Through comparing the ANSYS calculated results to the test ones, it shows that the finite element models are reasonable and the behaviors of the columns can be better predicted, and then carrying on in-depth analysis to the strength performance and the mechanism of the strengthened members using the analysis results of FEM. And so has a significance in reducing the experiment work, obtaining more reliable data, furthering the research and so on.
