Gear helix master is the standard measuring apparatus used by tooth trace or lead measuring apparatus, gear measuring machine or center while verifying, calibrating, adjusting, check and accept the helix parameter. The research of the project aims at expanding the function of the existing gear 3000 type detector produced by M&M company of U.S.A, namely, to realize helix master's calibrating function, then clearing up the trouble of helix master's calibration in the district of ChongQing, and finally guaranteeing and heightening the level of quantity transmitting of gear measuring apparatus in this area.The calibration of helix master depends on the measuring principle of the detecting apparatus and the level of data processing. Based on the structural character, a method of generative metrology is used in the thesie. This method works like this: using the mechanical generative principle, the co-motion of rotate axis and z axis which is calculated by the given parameters is realized, at the same time, high accuracy probe collects the relatively measuring error. Then, use the data processing software to evaluate the helix's error.This thesis mainly focuses on the software's development to measure the master. The mathematical model of measuring the master is established according to the analysis of the master's operation principle and the helix's motion trace equation. An emphasis is also put on the principle and programming of RS-232 serial communication and GPIB bus to realize the motion control and data collection. The mathematical model of error evaluation is also established in the thesis by using the method of least-square regression principle. Results show that the software reaches its anticipant target. It indicates that the development of the software is successful. This has not only enabled the precision instrument been utilized again, but also laid a good foundation for the development of other test software and high-accuracy instrument in the future.
