This article introduces some important integrated automatization systems and their communication managers both in domestic & overseas markets, and then analyses the advantage and disadvantage of these communication managers. The article puts forward the main purpose of our research and develop work: the communication managers must have the characteristic of real-time & high response, the hardware must be reliable and ease-expanding , the association of the core software and application software must be low coupling.The article expatiates the difference between general operating system and real-time operating system in the aspect of task scheduling strategy, interrupt delay and so on. Thus the article further defines that real-time multi-task operating system should be used as software footstone of communication manager in order to satisfy the demand of high real-time response. The article also analyses and compares Vx Works and QNX, the two most popular real-time systems in the world at present, and explains why we choose QNX and discard Vx Works .SiFang Co. Ltd persists in the distributing design principle in integrated automatization system constantly. According to the principle, the article introduce why we use industry-control product based on PC 104 bus as the hardware of the communication manager, shows the number of serial, ethernet interface and the all components of hardware.The article expatiates the design principle of core software layer and application software layer in the communication manager in detail, which emphasizes on the microkernel, independence to protocol and other characteristics in core software layer, and also introduces how we partition the function module in application software layer and the massages flow in these module.
