As the large-scale application of Power System and Power System’s users of increasing demand, the Substation automation systems used by more and more. The diversity of communication protocol and communication network in the substation caused the practical problems of how to achieve interoperability. Because of lack of uniform standards formulated by the government, each substation used different manufactory’s varied devices. And those devices are different from skill level, production date and communication protocol. However the substation automation system base on the standard of IEC61850can not be achieved within the short term. If the devices of different communication protocols access the same system, it causes non-communication problem. One possible solution is using communication manager in the communication networks of substation. The purpose of this paper is to address the problems of substation automation communication difficultly; main tasks of this paper are as follows:By analyzing the status quo and problems of the domestic and international communications management mechanism, and aiming at solving those problems——existing communication management devices all equipping specific automated systems, single communication protocol and the difficulty of communicating with other manufacturer’s intelligent equipment, this article suggested a kind of communications management mechanism which can support multiple communication interface, network and protocol.This kind of communications management mechanism, based on comparing with two kinds of ideas of structuring the hardware platform, has adopted the mature industrial control products plan. According to requirements of industrial control system of the power industry, the communication management mechanism chose the CPU which is low power consumption, small size and high reliability. As to the substation’s problems of the intelligent device probably having different communication and produced by different vendors, the mechanism’s interface contains RS485and RS232, Ethernet and optical fiber communication interface, etc. so that it can fit for the diverse communication interface in the substation. The mechanism adopted the embedded Linux operationg system which is real-time and high reliability. After cutting the Linux kernel on the basis of actual needs, the final kernel documents are about733Kb. The mechanism is developed by using the Cross-compilation debugging method. And the application utilized the modularizing design method to ensure that the system is reliability and expansibility. What’s more, this kind of design makes no interference between the various modules, and one broken module will not influences the others module. Last but not least, the design can solve the problem of updating and increase intelligent devices by adding modules.In this thesis, the embedded communication management mechanism fully meets the present communication methods in the practical use. It will work as usual when it increases or replaces devices.This thesis is based on the development project of HUNAN UNISPLENDOUR M&C CO., LTD.
